Mara Duckens commissioned portraits

Mara’s Current Projects

I find creative inspiration in many places, and that allows me to express myself in a variety of ways. In addition to drawing and painting, I love to write. My articles have been featured on Design Mom, Hither and Thither, and in Milwaukee Metroparent Magazine. In addition, I write the Artists Inspiring Artists blog for Wisconsin Visual Artists (WVA). Below, are more ways that we can collaborate.

Let’s Work Together! Here’s How…

Commission an Artwork

Grandparents. Children. Families. I work on drawings and paintings for clients when my own production calendar allows. The work is always done in my style of pen & ink drawing or acrylic painting. The “Featured Artwork” page of this website is where you can find a rotating gallery of my work.

If you’d like to work together, please contact me for pricing and timelines.

This commissioned pen & ink portrait was in memory of a very special grandparent.

Drawing Lessons

When my schedule permits, I provide hour-long drawing lessons for children or adults. Our work together focuses on proportion, shading, composition - and finding JOY in art.

Isn’t this drawing beautiful? It was created by a10-year-old student after a lesson on the compositions of Mary Cassatt.

How can I help you?

“I have created nothing really beautiful, really lasting, but if I can inspire one of these youngsters to develop the talent I know they possess, then my monument will be in their work.”
